For over 30 years, NHC has been on a mission to empower medical professionals and make quality private healthcare genuinely accessible to South African families — wherever they live.
Our Mission
NHC was founded in January 1992 as an Independent Practice Association (IPA) by 22 medical professionals based in Johannesburg. Created by medical professionals for medical professionals — the core mission from day one was to empower practitioners at a time when reimbursement pressures and managed care were challenging the sustainability of private medical practice in South Africa.
Today, NHC comprises two main networks. The first is our chain of NHC Health Centres — fully equipped multi-disciplinary facilities bringing multiple specialties under one roof across Gauteng and Limpopo. The second, far larger network is our national network of branded medical service professionals, spanning from Cape Town to Musina, and from Durban to De Aar — and everything in between.
Our role as the administration company and extension of the medical professional's practice has always been the same: to elevate professionals in the consumer's mind, and to make exceptional healthcare accessible to every South African family.
We put medical professionals in a stronger position — more stable, better supported, with the scale and resources that group membership provides.
